Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Hobart accommodation or cruise ship terminal to take you on a full-day tour. Start your day with a scenic drive up through South Hobart and the township of Fern Tree, to the summit of kunanyi/Mt Wellington, which sits 1271 metres above sea level. On a clear day, it offers an incredible view of the Derwent River, Bruny Island, South West Heritage Area, Hobart and the surrounds.
You will then travel down Mt Wellington and south in the rolling hills of the picturesque Huon Valley. The next stop is The Honey Pot in Grove where you can sample some native honey and peruse their store brimming with honey and beeswax products including a manuka skincare range, mead and ales.
When in season (December/January) it includes a visit across the road to the Green Cherry Shed before travelling through Huonville and along the river to Geeveston and out into the southern forests to Tahune Adventures.
At Tahune Adventures you can walk high above the forest canopy along a 600 metre walkway at height of 30 metres out to a 50 metre high cantilevered platform above the riverbank, with views extending to the mountains and forests of the Southwest Tasmania World Heritage Wilderness Area. At ground level you can follow a number of walks through the trees such as the Huon Pine Walk and Swinging Bridges track which takes you across the rushing waters of the Picton and Huon rivers. After your forest adventure, you can visit their café for a meal featuring Tasmanian produce, local wines, and ciders.
On your journey back out of the Huon Valley, you will stop in Franklin to visit Franks Cider Bar and Café for a delicious cider tasting or coffee and chance to explore their Tasmanian Apple Heritage Museum display.
