Mt Wellington

You will be taken on a private tour up kunanyi/Mt Wellington, only a 20 minute drive from Hobart which sits 1271 metres above sea level. On a clear day offers an incredible view of the Derwent river, Bruny Island, South West Wilderness, Hobart and surrounding area. The journey up takes you through the beautiful township of Fern Tree and the areas thickly forested Wellington Park.
Its then time to head back down the mountain and make your way to Barilla Bay, an oyster farm, where you can purchase their fine seafood products.
Then you will travel into the rich green farmlands of the Coal River Valley to visit Puddleduck Vineyard, known for its lovely collection of ducks and native birds, excellent sparkling and sustainable practices.
Just down the road is The Wicked Cheese Company, a family owned boutique cheesemaker and see the cheese as its being made. Free tastings of their range are available and the ability to peruse their provedore shop stocked with a large range of other Tasmanian cheeses and gourmet products such as locally grown olive oil and fruit pastes.
Next stop, is the beautiful historic town of Richmond, a great place to stop for lunch and stroll around the village’s elegant architecture and beautiful heritage buildings which now are home to galleries, tea shops, craft boutiques and museums. Here you will see Richmond Bridge, the oldest sandstone bridge still in use in Australia, and St Johns, the oldest Catholic Church.
Last stop for the day is a visit to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary where you can see a large range of native wildlife including wombats, koalas, Tasmanian devils, quolls, possum, snakes & a large range of native birds. You will even get an opportunity to feed and pat their large mob of kangaroos.
